Building Pathways to Stronger Communities
Poverty isn’t just a financial lack. It’s inequity of opportunity, dignity, and access to the tools needed to thrive. We believe true development starts when families have pathways to earn a living, care for their loved ones, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Our community development programs help families build livelihoods that are sustainable, life-giving, and rooted in relationships, strengthening the fabric of the entire community for generations to come.
What We Do
Goat Livestock ExchangeA single goat can change a family’s trajectory. Through this program, families receive a goat along with training in animal care, reproduction cycles, and sustainable practices. As goats reproduce, families can exchange offspring to not only sustain their own share, but to generate sustainability in the community at large.

The Jordan Project (Chicken Program)What began as a small poultry effort has grown into a dynamic program providing affordable chicken, local employment, and spiritual conversation opportunities.

Youth Soccer LeagueOur soccer league offers more than just a game. It builds character, fosters belonging, and creates safe spaces for youth to grow.

Why it Matters
Strong communities are built when families have the means to sustain themselves, invest in their futures, and stay connected to one another. Our community and economic development initiatives help make that possible.
When families have access to resources that generate food and income, they gain stability and dignity through work they can manage themselves. These small but meaningful opportunities create ripple effects, like improving household nutrition, easing financial burdens, and encouraging neighbors to support one another.
At the same time, spaces for young people to grow in confidence, teamwork, and leadership strengthen the bonds that hold a community together. It’s more than practical support; it’s hope for a brighter future, rooted in self-sufficiency, shared purpose, and the belief that everyone has something to contribute.
Together, we’re helping families thrive, neighbors connect, and communities build resilience for generations to come.

"Because of YKM, my daughter is in college."Alfred Predexte, a skilled carpenter from Ranquitte, has always worked hard to provide for his family. Last year, despite his best efforts, he couldn’t afford to send his daughter to university, a dream they both shared for years.
When YKM launched the Jordan Project to build a community chicken coop, Alfred was hired to lend his craftsmanship to the project. The work provided more than just a paycheck—it offered hope and opportunity. "I was unable to pay my daughter’s tuition last year," Alfred shared. "But with the work YKM gave me through this project, I was able to cover her first year of university. Now, she has a chance at a brighter future." The Jordan Project didn’t just strengthen local food security; it also strengthened a family’s future. Alfred’s story reflects how opportunity can ripple outward, impacting not just one person, but entire households and generations to come. |
