Equipping students for success
We believe that access to education is one of the greatest tools for uplifting and advancing local communities. In Haiti, where school fees often keep children out of the classroom and adult literacy remains low, we’re working to make learning accessible for all, children, teens, and adults alike.
A Christ-Centered Model
We partner with local leaders to provide schools that offer high-quality, faith-based education, especially for students who might otherwise be left behind. Unlike many private schools in Haiti, our model doesn't require students to test in or pay fees, opening the door for at-risk youth.
- Experienced Haitian teachers who know the cultural and spiritual needs of their students
- Holistic curriculum that integrates academics with character development and biblical teaching
- Safe and encouraging learning environments for students to thrive
Adult Literacy
Roughly 4 out of 10 adults in Haiti cannot read or write. Our Adult Literacy Program is changing that by offering evening classes for adults eager to grow in independence and confidence.
- Practical reading, writing, and numeracy skills
- Empowering adults to engage more fully in family, faith, and economic life
- Fostering dignity and personal growth through lifelong learning
Why it Matters
In Haiti, nearly 4 out of 10 people cannot read or write, a reality that limits access to jobs, health information, spiritual development, and even basic daily tasks like reading a sign or filling out a form. For children and adults alike, the ability to read and write isn't just an educational milestone. It’s a life-changing threshold.
"Education and nourishment Are shaping futures."At YKM Schools, children are receiving more than an education; they’re also gaining hope for their future and creating change in their families and community.
"To train responsible citizens, ready to engage in the development of the country, we offer the children a Christ-centered education," shared Fartho, YKM’s School Director. "Many parents tell us about the positive differences they are seeing in their children’s lives." Alongside quality education, the school’s feeding program provides each student with a hot meal daily. This simple act makes a big difference. Not only does it improve students’ focus and learning in the classroom, but it also lifts a burden from parents, who would otherwise need at least $10 a week to provide lunch. Families are deeply grateful, describing the program as a much-needed relief. Through education and nourishment, YKM is equipping children to thrive and shaping a brighter future for the next generation. |
Education Plants seeds for generational changeChildren who attend school not only gain knowledge and confidence, they often become tutors and role models for younger siblings and peers, extending the impact far beyond the classroom.
Adult Literacy Fosters INdependenceBeing able to read your child's report card, understand a Bible verse, or sign your name for the first time offers a profound sense of dignity. It allows adults to engage more fully in their families, churches, and workplaces.
